Matteotti

corso Matteotti 61, Turin

In the area previously occupied by a low commercial building, in a 19th century block near the new Porta Susa Station and the IntesaSanpaolo skyscraper, a new residential building has been designed in a neuralgic area of important urban interventions. Corso Matteotti 61 is a building that fits into the culture of Turin living, marked by attention to history, respect for the pre-existing, discreet and not superficial, and profoundly innovative.

The design idea was therefore inspired by the desire to harmoniously complete the 19th century block by projecting towards the new areas. The project continues the building line of the neighbouring buildings and inherits from them the rigid composition of the openings which become, in the volume of the French-style roof, a rhythmic sequence of dormer windows; the second, jutting out, is represented by three large iron and glass bow windows joined by continuous balconies with a sinuous course. A sort of large bow window that expands to the scale of the block and reinterprets the traditional bow window found in adjacent eclectic architecture.
The building’s heating and cooling system has a low environmental impact because it is powered entirely by water-to-water heat pumps that draw water from and return it to the stratum.
