EX-PASTIFICIO ITALIANO AC HOTEL-MARRIOTT
Via Bisalta 11, TurinThe former Italian pasta factory, one of the first industrial buildings to be built in the early 20th century in reinforced concrete, was restored and converted into an AC/ Marriott hotel. The restoration has preserved the four-storey building with its characteristic pilaster façade, the brick chimney built in 1909 and the contemporary enlargement with a small two-storey building. The redevelopment of the building, which due to its location was heavily damaged by bombing during the Second World War, has brought it back to its original appearance, creating a functional, luminous and special hotel inside which, while evoking the area’s former industrial past, interprets it with elegance and modernity.
The project set out to enhance the structure, making it visible and playing with its industrial past and contemporary design. On the ground floor, a full-height division allows the spaces to be bright, separating the kitchen, technical spaces and small rooms almost along their entire length from the large common reception and entertainment area overlooking the garden. The floors are accessed from the two vertical distribution elements by a central corridor which, maintaining the industrial rhythm, leads to the rooms where the structural elements are interwoven with elegant functionality.
