AK Geotechnical Engineering Offices
Corso Telesio, TurinAK’s new office is located in an existing low brick industrial building from the 1970s expansion of the city. The interior design of the project is strongly characterised by the client company’s activity, the design of structures interacting with soil and rock mechanics, tunnels and infrastructure. The environment constitutes a comfortable and welcoming working space and conveys a creative capacity between technique and innovation. The walls are completely painted in grey, a neutral tone that complements the neutral honey colour of the floor.
The separations of the various areas of the office are made with equipped walls, bookcases or storage units, made of anthracite painted iron and designed specifically for the office, which provide support for enlarged images of the phases of the creation of the works and brick red wooden walls.
The entrance gives access to the meeting room, and along the wall of the entrance, a large perspective photo of the construction site of a tunnel introduces us to the heart of the office: the open space of about 200 square metres equipped with tables and desks.
The replacement of the window and doorframes is an opportunity to create an open space towards the outside, which on one side overlooks the garden in front and benefits from natural light. The windows and doors are designed to ensure maximum energy performance and the light is appropriately filtered by fabric sunscreens.
The artificial lighting project, developed together with the architectural design, is made with standard lamps by Artemide and Flos, with a balance between ambient and localised light, highlighting the characterisation of the layout and contributing to the general, almost domestic comfort of the working environment; the modulation of light with dimmers makes it possible to avoid energy waste and create different scenarios, depending on the time of day and situations.
