The square | Green Pea
Via Nizza 230, TurinTo preserve the nature of the place, the memory of its past (we are in the former industrial district of Lingotto, first a railway depot, then an industrial area physically separated from the city of houses by high walls and visible only from the railway, to end up being a large parking) a square and green areas were designed to mitigate city traffic, offering the comfort not only visually of greenery. At the foot of the building, on the south and west sides, green areas have been created. The zigzagging composition surrounds the pedestrian areas with soft green walls made up of tall trees alternating with perennial shrubs and herbaceous plants.
The pavement and the pedestrian path testify to the urban dimension and the connection with the buildings, while the green spaces offer a shaded, intimate and protected environment. In line with the didactic dimension that identifies Green Pea, spheres of solar panels, flowers with photovoltaic petals and a suggestive wooden mini-wind turbine define an “energy garden” from natural sources. In fact, the design of the entire space is intended to be a stimulus to live in harmony with nature and an ode to plants and their regenerative power.
