The limonaia glasshouse
Superga, TurinOn the hill towards the Basilica of Superga, inside an early 20th century building now renovated and divided into several units and surrounded by a large, partly sloping garden, the ACC Naturale Architettura studio has designed an independent greenhouse-veranda. To protect lemons in winter, preserve, cultivate flowering plants and valuable fruit and vegetables, fragile or rare plants, an iron and glass structure inspired by the famous greenhouses in English botanical gardens has been designed to exploit the sloping terrain.
The thin iron enhances the lightness and momentum of the work and leaves ample space for light to filter through the glass, which is worked using the most modern techniques. Rainwater is recovered for irrigation, the greenhouse fits harmoniously into the landscape and allows protection and protection in a harmonious context, within a construction conceived as an archi\nature.
