Serralunga d’Alba, CuneoThe terrace of the Vigna Magica Hotel represents an important piece of the vast undertaking, begun in 2010, of the redevelopment of the historic Fontanafredda estate. After the recovery of the space of the Cellars, the creation of the place that today houses the E. di Mirafiore Foundation where culture, catering and oenology coexist, a part of the estate was transformed in 2017 into a place of hospitality, the Hotel Vigna Magica. Where there was previously a simple covering of a large building body, a 1000 square metre roof garden has been designed. The landscape project is aimed at developing an intervention strategy that enhances the uniqueness of the location and the wine and landscape identity of the property
The terrace is designed in such a way as to be experienced in every season, on the one hand, and to mark the seasons, on the other, which is a key element in the vineyards that characterise the area. The outdoor spaces become a continuation of the rooms and blend with the surrounding hills. The flowers alternate throughout the year, but the prerogative is to be able to enjoy the terrace even in the cold season. The area is characterised by a particularly mild microclimate, and historically occupied by vineyards, the garden area still retains its ancient vocation. Tradition and innovation, historical elements and new technologies for green areas and contemporary design elements and lighting points coexist in perfect balance, giving rise to a harmonious and surprising roof garden.
