Lingotto area, Lotto 5, TurinThe principle on which the proposal for the urban transformation of this last part of the redevelopment of the former industrial area Carpano Lingotto is based, a pivotal project in the regeneration process affecting the southern area of Turin, is the sustainability of the built environment. The areas covered by the Masterplan are located in the area bounded by: the former Carpano Eataly-AC Hotel building, the continuation of Via Biglieri to the roundabout near the railway, the road connecting with the Corso Spezia subway and the Borello and Maffiotto area.
The aim is to create an integrated system of public pedestrian spaces of urban rank, in continuity with the existing ones outside (the square in front of Eataly) and inside (the Lingotto gallery and Eataly). The front of the former Carpano building is taken as the guiding element, with the aim of continuing the current pedestrian square in front of Eataly to the new complex without interruption: the new building is developed from the extension of this line, so as to create a spatial and perceptive fluidity between the existing and planned public pedestrian spaces.
