headquarter CODEBO’
Corso Tazzoli 215, TurinThe intervention concerns the restyling and refurbishment of an industrial warehouse to house a new headquarters that Codebò s.p.a Ascensori wanted as a sustainable innovation laboratory. The project involved the transformation of the existing building, favoring recovery and rigeneration and revolutionizing the structure and intended use for a lower environmental impact. Innovative and functional, renewable materials such as aluminum, glass and wood have been selected for the 2000 sqm of total renovation. Having demolished the entire infill of the facade in concrete blocks, in which three sectional doors for loading and unloading were inserted, the east front has become the new main access to the building. Large openings were made in the original shed and large windows were inserted on each side, thus favoring natural light.
Light that also floods the interior where the partition walls are entirely made of glass, while those of the offices are equipped with oak wood walls. The energy needs are completely covered by solar panels and a roof garden has been studied and designed on the roof of the shed’s forecourt, which allows not only fresh products for internal consumption but also an engaging activity. The main front previously used as a loading and unloading area has been transformed into a lawn of 2500 square meters, with various plants and lime trees. The garden, irrigated thanks to a sustainable system that uses groundwater taken directly from the subsoil, allows new access to the offices with a sinuous pedestrian path that reaches the level of the existing internal floor.
