Cantine Fontanafredda – Mirafiore Foundation

The first part of the redevelopment involved the recovery of the premises built in the first half of the twentieth century above the nineteenth-century Royal Cellars of the Fontanafredda estate. Originally intended for production and storage, the project has re-functionalized the spaces to accommodate the headquarters of the Emanuele di Mirafiore Foundation, a cultural center that houses a theater, a bookshop-library and a place for dining.

The project involved the total building and plant renovation of the interiors, the reconstruction of the windows and the creation of the furnishings of the interior spaces. The interior of the Foundation was designed as a large open space with a path that winds through the library-library to the foyer-restaurant. The fulcrum is the space for public readings and events, conceived as a real theater: an elliptical, autonomous wooden structure that can become a closed and soundproofed environment thanks to the velvet curtains, or remain open and permeable as a resting place.
